Each afternoon you can hear kids laughing as they play a game of pickup soccer in Dodd Meadows. Their challenge is they play in an asphalt parking lot, with cars driving by and only rocks to mark the sidelines and goals. They talk of a real field to play on, but at present that dream seems far away.
Dodd Meadows is a Habitat for Humanity community in Hendersonville, built by volunteers and homeowners. It currently boasts 65 homes with five under construction. These houses belong to families who before had little hope of home ownership. They benefit from the mission of Habitat – to build safe, affordable housing.
While Dodd meadows grows each day, the children of the community still need a place to play. Five years ago, land was dedicated for a playground. Today the playground still sits largely empty, with a swing set and picnic table.
“Spring Into Action” is a Habitat fundraiser to improve and expand the playground area where kids can safely run, play and exercise. Habitat is asking for your help. Join in the action!
